Welcome to the third challenge in our SSC CGL Typing Test series. As you prepare for the latest exam, consistent practice is key to mastering the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST). This passage is curated to reflect the latest exam pattern, featuring a mix of common words, punctuation, and numbers. Your goal for this test should be to type with a consistent rhythm, focusing on reducing errors. Remember, every accurate keystroke brings you closer to qualifying. Let's begin!

Common Errors to Avoid in the SSC CGL DEST

After finishing SSC CGL Typing Test 03, it's crucial to understand where you might be losing marks. The DEST has a specific error calculation method. Here are common mistakes to avoid for the 2025 test:

1. Punctuation and Spacing Errors (Half-Mistake)

A frequent mistake is missing a comma, misplacing a space after a full stop, or adding an unnecessary space. While these are often counted as half-mistakes, they can add up quickly and lead to disqualification. Pay close attention to punctuation marks like commas (,), full stops (.), and hyphens (-).

2. Capitalization Errors (Half-Mistake)

Forgetting to capitalize the first letter of a sentence or a proper noun is another common half-mistake. The SHIFT key is your friend! Practice using it correctly so it becomes second nature during the high-pressure environment of the actual exam.

3. Word Substitution or Omission (Full-Mistake)

Typing the wrong word (e.g., "form" instead of "from") or completely skipping a word are counted as full mistakes. These are the most damaging errors. The best way to avoid this is to keep your eyes on the source text on the screen and move them along as you type, rather than trying to memorize chunks of sentences.

The Importance of Correct Posture

Your typing speed is directly affected by your posture. Sit with your back straight, feet flat on the floor, and wrists in a neutral, straight position. Your elbows should be at a 90-degree angle. This ergonomic setup not only prevents strain but also allows your fingers to move more freely and quickly across the keyboard, boosting your WPM significantly.
